Made in our own workroom, for the rooms we design.
Aubury & Co has its own workroom. It makes the curtains, Roman blinds, pelmets, headboards, cushions and upholstered pieces that run through our schemes.
Having it in-house means the fabric on your windows, your bed and your sofa is chosen together and made to fit, so a room reads as one idea rather than a collection of purchases.
Every piece is measured for the window, the bed or the seat it will live on, and made for the scheme it belongs to.
What the Workroom Makes
Four kinds of piece, each one made to the room rather than the nearest standard size.
Curtains and Roman Blinds
Full-length curtains in a heavy weave, a Roman blind in a bay, a lighter cloth to soften a north-facing room. We choose the fabric with the rest of the scheme in mind, then make it to the window.

Pelmets
A pelmet finishes a window. At Springfield in Gosforth, Roman blinds and patterned pelmets dress the bay windows in a way that reads as tailoring rather than decoration, and the light is allowed to earn its place.

Headboards
An upholstered headboard anchors a bedroom. At The Northumberland Project in Corbridge, a wenge framed headboard in velvet with fine thread detail was built in house and became the anchor for the room. At Elmfield Road an ikat headboard holds the master bedroom, and at Bamburgh a patterned headboard in mushroom and cream gives a guest bedroom its own character.

Cushions and Upholstered Pieces
The smaller pieces that settle a room. Cushions cut from the same cloth as the curtains, upholstered seating made to fit, the details that make a home feel collected over time rather than decorated in a weekend.

Where the Workroom Sits in Our Process
Conversation
We listen to how you live, what you like and what the room is for. Windows, beds and seating are part of that first conversation, not an afterthought.
Concept
Curtains, blinds, headboards and cushions are chosen alongside paint, wallpaper and furniture, on the same mood board, so the fabric belongs to the room from the start.
Creation
The workroom makes each piece to measure while the rest of the scheme comes together, and it is fitted and styled as part of the final installation.
Common Questions
Can the workroom make curtains or blinds on their own?
The workroom makes pieces for the schemes we design, and a scheme can be a single room as easily as a whole house. If you have one room in mind, a room refresh is often the right size of project, and soft furnishings sit at the heart of it. Tell us what you are thinking and we will suggest the simplest way to do it well.
Where are the pieces made?
In our own in-house workroom. The studio has been based in Ponteland since 2005, and the workroom pieces credited on our project pages, from Bamburgh to Gosforth to Corbridge, were made there.
Which fabrics do you use?
Our Material Partners page shows a select few of the fabric houses whose collections run through Aubury schemes most often. For each piece we choose the cloth with the rest of the room in mind, so the curtains, the bed and the seating are chosen together.
